We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Kernel’s Testnet on November 7, providing a new avenue for BNB restaking. Through Kernel, participants can enhance the security of multiple services at once, fostering a resilient, shared security framework. This pooled model not only optimizes the utility of staked BNB but also strengthens security assurances for each service within the ecosystem.
This handy guide will cover everything you need to know to get started with the Kernel Testnet, access test tokens, and explore our rewards program.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
What is the Kernel Testnet?
How can you mint testnet tokens?
What are the steps for restaking with Kernel?
What rewards are available for early testers?
How is Kernel’s security ensured?
Let’s dive right in.
What is Kernel?
Kernel introduces a groundbreaking restaking protocol on the BNB Chain, designed to amplify BNB’s utility through a layered security model. The testnet provides hands-on access to Kernel’s unique approach, where BNB token holders can restake their assets—whether restaked directly or via liquid staking tokens (LSTs)—to help secure a range of decentralized applications. By participating, users can contribute to the BNB Chain’s collective security while accessing new rewards.
Kernel’s approach pools staked BNB, creating a shared security framework that maximizes asset efficiency and offers robust security guarantees across multiple services. This prevents the fragmentation of security by allowing any decentralized service to tap into BNB’s extensive staker community.
How can you mint Testnet Tokens?
The Kernel Testnet enables users to easily mint test tokens to experience its functionalities. Here’s how to get started:
1. Get tBNB for testing purposes:
Visit the BSC Testnet Faucet, enter your wallet address, and claim tokens every 24 hours. (Note: This requires 0.002 BNB on the BSC Mainnet.)
Token Address: 0xae13d989daC2f0dEbFf460aC112a837C89BAa7cd
2. Access BNBx from the Kernel Faucet:
Navigate to the Faucet section within the Kernel dApp, and claim 0.1 BNBx every 24 hours.
Token Address: 0x6cd3f51A92d022030d6e75760200c051caA7152A
3. Mint slisBNB by depositing tBNB:
In the Kernel dApp, go to Faucet, deposit tBNB, and mint slisBNB.
Token Address: 0xCc752dC4ae72386986d011c2B485be0DAd98C744
Next: How to restake on Kernel
Once your test tokens are ready, follow these steps to restake with Kernel:
1. Connect Your Wallet:
Go to the Kernel Web App, connect your wallet (e.g., MetaMask, TrustWallet), and configure it for the BNB Chain Testnet.
2. Choose Your Restaking Method:
Select whether you’d like to restake BNB or Liquidity Staked Tokens (LSTs).
3. Enter the Amount:
Input the amount you wish to restake and initiate the transaction.
4. Confirm Transaction:
Review the transaction details, confirm in your wallet, and then view your restaked assets and rewards in the Kernel Portfolio.
That’s it! You’re all set.
What rewards are available for early testers?
To thank our community, we’re introducing a rewards program for valuable feedback:
Top Contributor: The user with the most insightful feedback will win $500.
10 Additional Winners: Each will receive $100.
To participate, simply explore the Kernel testnet and submit your feedback here: Feedback Form.
Winners will be announced on November 29! This is a great opportunity to help shape Kernel’s future and earn rewards.
How is Kernel’s security ensured?
The Kernel protocol has undergone rigorous security assessments, with extensive audits by Bail Security. This thorough process ensures that Kernel’s smart contracts are safe and reliable.
Kernel Testnet provides users with a secure environment to explore the protocol, with clear, transparent audit reports and a robust focus on security. You can find the audit report here.
